39 weeks

Well, I'm due next week. I had a check-up on Monday, and the doctor said I was already half a centimetre dilated. In other words, the baby can come anytime now. Our parents are anxiously waiting for the phone call to hear that we're on our way to the hospital. I'm not sure yet who will be watching Sarah when the time comes, it will depend on the time of the day and which hospital we end up going to. I really hope we'll have enough time to make it to Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, that way, I should be able to have my own doctor deliver the baby. I feel totally comfortable with his knowledge and competency. He did a fantastic job delivering Sarah, and I know that this baby would be in good hands with him too.
Sarah got her 15-month immunization shots today. She hasn't been sick too often, so we've only gone to the doctor's office for shots in the past. Surprisingly, she's not scared to go there. She had fun running around and checking things out. And when she got the needle, she didn't make a sound. She was as happy when we left as when we got there, you'd never know that she'd just got poked. She's so much tougher than most kids. That's my girl!
Her appetite has greatly increased in the last week or so. I've doubled the amount of Cheerios she gets for breakfast, but she empties her plate every morning without fussing. Then for lunch she had scrambled eggs with black forest ham. Yummy! She did a great job using a fork. More food ended up in her mouth than on the floor. That's progress!

36 weeks

Wow! Less than 4 weeks left till the new baby comes. It wouldn't surprise me if she decided to come sooner than that. I feel (and look) huge. My belly is as big as it was with Sarah at full term. I'm starting to get stretchmarks, which I never got with Sarah. I haven't gained more weight than the first time, so the only reason why my skin can't handle the stretching must be the size of the baby. She should be around 6lbs at this point, but I have a feeling she's closer to 7lbs.
I'm on holidays this week. I've been busy trying to organize everything and get ready for the big day. I'll be back to work next week, but only for 2 weeks and then I'm done for a year. A lot of people have asked me if Sarah is excited about becoming a big sister, but she's still too young to understand. She'll be 15 months old the day after tomorrow. For now, all she knows is that Mommy has a big belly and that she gets picked up less and less. I don't know how she'll react when we introduce the new baby to her, she's never had to share Mommy with anyone.
We got her a couple of dolls, so when I'm busy feeding or changing the baby, she can do the same with her dolly. She's at the stage where she likes to copy people, so hopefully the doll idea works. The only thing that worries me is sleeping. Sometimes she wakes up in the middle of the night crying and I'm afraid that will wake up the baby too. And it will be the same the other way around as well. I guess Peter will have to give me a hand at that point. He'll be home for 2 weeks to help me when the baby comes.
