40 weeks

My due date was 2 days ago and we still have no baby. I had a check-up yesterday, I haven't dilated more since last week. Though it seems like the baby has dropped, the doctor said she was still way up there. I'm going back to see him next Monday, he's going to insert some type of strip that dissolves and ripens my cervix to prepare it for labor. It will stay there overnight, then Tuesday morning (November 6) we'll go to the hospital and I'll get induced. It makes me laugh when I think back that my original due date was October 8TH. So that's the plan, unless the little lady decides to show up this week. I don't think she will though, I haven't felt any contractions, Braxton Hicks or any pain whatsoever. This isn't how I imagined her arrival but I guess it maybe better this way, at least I can prepare for it mentally. Whatever happens within a week we WILL BE parents.

39 weeks

So here I am just a few day away from my due date (Sunday, October 28). I've had 2 check-ups since my last posting, but there hasn't been any progress in my dilation. Everything seems to be OK with both myself and the baby, she's still very active, she's just not in a hurry to come out. She must like it in there. The doctor said, if I don't have her by Monday, when I go for my next appointment we'll go through the procedure for an induction. He'll tell me everything there is to know about it, and we'll schedule a date and time at the hospital. The grandparents (to be) are very anxious. Pete's mom had booked her holidays for this week, so she could be available when the baby comes. Now she's sitting at home and no baby. I can imagine how she must feel. Tonight we're going to Crabby Joe's for chicken wings, maybe those hot and spicy wings will do the trick.

38 weeks

2 more weeks to go. Or less. I had a check-up yesterday and the doctor said I've started to open up a little bit. It's only the size of a fingertip, but it's a start. I'm going to see him again Monday, I can't wait to find out if there's more progress by then. I feel OK, other than having the occasional backache and swollen ankles. My belly is huge now, but I still haven't noticed any stretchmarks. The weather's a little cooler these days, which helps. Peter and I are going to shampoo the car this weekend, so we can install the new baby seat. I'm not sure how Tyson will take having to share the backseat. Everybody's looking forward to the big day, Denton hopes it will be this Sunday, on his birthday. We'll see. The doctor said it will definitely happen before my due date rather than after. I hope he's right. Any day now would be just fine with me.
