Canada Day

On July 1st, we celebrated the 142nd birthday of our country. I was surprised to find out that our small hometown, Cambridge threw the biggest party in the entire country. We skipped out on the morning parade, but we did make it down to Riverside Park where we started out by saying hello to a giant beaver. Then we walked further into the park to get Sarah's face painted. She got a patriotic Canada flag on one cheek and a pretty butterfly on the other. Once she was all done up, we made our way to 2 clowns who were making animals figures out of balloons. For waiting in line patiently, Sarah was rewarded by a little balloon dog.
Later, we walked back to the fair where I got my much desired cotton candy, and we enjoyed a roller coaster, a small train, a mini school bus ride. Sarah even got to go on a baby airplane ride all by herself. She loved it! It was such a nice day until the rain started later on. By the time we got back to the car, we were all trenched.
We didn't stay for the fireworks because, as we'd expected, both kids were asleep by the time it started. However, Peter and I caught a glimpse of it standing on our deck. Next year, when the girls are a little older maybe we'll try and watch it from the park.
