The first ulrasound
Peter's finally home from his week-long trip to Quebec. I missed him a lot. We celebrated our first wedding anniversary on Sunday, June 3rd. For this occasion, Peter took me to my favourite restaurant called Fireside, where I had my usual meal, the Chicken Tender Platter. It was mmm, mmm, good! Then the next day, we finally got the opportunity to see our baby for the first time. I'd scheduled my ultrasound for the afternoon, so Peter could be there with me. We were both really excited. I got called into the office first to conduct a series of tests, then the technician called in Peter. We were both glued to the screen as the little white spot started to appear.
It looked like a baby doll. When the lady zoomed in on the head, we could clearly see the eyes, nose, even the lips, that were making a sucking motion, like the baby was already looking for a boob. It was amazing. However, we were unable to find out the gender, because the legs were crossed the entire time. It's a shy baby. But that's OK, it'll be a surprise. I was relieved to find out that there was only one baby, though. I'm not ready for twins. Overall, it was a great experience. We got a few pictures to show our family and friends. After the ultrasound we headed over to my parents' house to let them see the first picture of their grand baby. They were a little disappointed that we couldn't find out the gender, but they enjoyed looking at the tiny person in the picture. Mom quickly got on the computer and emailed it to at least 10 of her friends, so everyone could share in her excitement. Peter and I considered getting a 3D ultrasound, where we could find out if we're having a boy or a girl, but we decided not to. We'll wait. It'll be a big surprise.
